Printed Ephemera — 1911-10-07
Suffragette Procession. October 7, 1911.
Suffragette procession, 7 October, 1911. In the foreground of the image can be seen the banner of the Women's Freedom League with the legend 'Dare to be Free'. This procession, held in the pouring rain, was organised by the Women's Social and Political Union on behalf of the Tax Resistance League in protest against the imprisonment of Clemence Housman for non-payment of her tax. Members of various suffrage groups, including the WFL and Fabian Society as seen in the image, participated in the procession that travelled from Kingsway to Holloway prison.
