Printed Ephemera — 1911
The Crusaders Section of the Women's Coronation Procession, 17th June 1911
The Crusaders Section of the Women's Coronation Procession, 17th June 1911. In the foreground can be seen a large banner carried by two young men with the message 'We Follow.' Behind are Suffragettes dressed as Crusaders, their white robes bearing the Crusaders' cross. The Crusaders section of the Procession lined up behind Marjorie Bryce dressed as Joan of Arc on horseback who headed the east Procession that converged on Northumberland Avenue from the Embankment. The Women's Coronation procession was organised by The Women's Social and Political Union. Held a week before the coronation of George V, it was intended to enlist the support of the new King in getting the Conciliation Bill of 1911 through Parliament.
