Printed Ephemera — 1908
A Great Meeting of Women
Printed handbill announcing 'a great meeting of women' at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday 19th March 1908 at 8pm to demand votes for women. This event, organised by the Women's Social and Political Union was one of a series of mass meetings organised in early 1908 to raise the profile of the WSPU and impress on the Government the serious intent of the campaign. The list of ticket prices printed on the flyer for the event also indicates that such meetings were used by the WSPU to raise much needed funds for the campaign. Also printed on the bottom of the flyer are details of other regular events organised by the WSPU to attract and sustain support and raise funds. By 1908 the WSPU were running a highly organised campaign with a London headquarters that employed salaried staff and organisers throughout the country.
