Ethel Clarice Haslam was Secretary of the Ilford branch of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU). An active militant she was prosecuted for flyposting and for smashing the windows in the home of MP John Burn in Battersea. Imprisoned in Holloway she participated in the Suffragette prisoners hunger strike protest.
