Votes for Women and Lots of 'Em this Merry Christmastime
Commercially produced Christmas greetings postcard satirising the Suffragette campaign. The postcard printed with a humorous verse mocking hunger-striking, militant Suffragettes is illustrated with an embossed and coloured hunger-strike medal. The card was sent to Minnie Turner from 'Bethie'.
The recipient Minnie Turner was a member of the Tax Resistance League. She ran her home at Sea View, Victoria Road, Brighton as a boarding house specifically aimed at Suffragettes. Advertising in suffrage newspapers such as Votes for Women she urged ‘Suffragettes spend your holidays in Brighton, central. Terms moderate.’
