Printed Ephemera — 1908-1912
Now Madam, Will you go quietly or shall I have to use force?
Commercially produced picture postcard satirising the militant Suffragette. Captioned 'Now Madam, Will you go quietly or shall I have to use force?', here an 'unwomanly' suffragette is depicted heckling a male dominated political meeting. Typically the Suffragette is represented wearing masculine clothing, including a tie and a 'pork pie hat' traditionally associated with lesbianism.
