Printed Ephemera — 1908-1914
What are men, who are they, where are they, etc, etc
Commercially produced picture postcard satirising the suffragette campaign. Captioned 'What are men, who are they, where are they, etc, etc', the postcard depicts a 'typical' suffragettte as forceful, unwomanly and unfeminine. Here she wears masculine clothing, a tie and a pork pie hat traditionally associated with lesbianism. This was one of in a series of similar postcards.
