Printed Ephemera — 1911
Great Suffrage Demonstration
Commercially produced comic picture postcard satirising the Suffragette Campaign. Here the Suffragette leader Christabel Pankhurst is depicted as 'Miss Hissy,' a goose addressing her geese followers of the 'Goose's Social and Political Union.' This was one of several comic postcards satirising the suffragettes produced by the commercial postcard publisher E. Mack based in Hampstead.
The postcard addressed to Miss McSear, Earls Court and postmarked August 1911 bears the message 'Iam sure there is nothing for you to do for the WSPU at present. So think you cannot do better than follow the advice given on this card & start a 'propagander' of your own' [signed with an illegible signature]
