Printed Ephemera — 1919
Women's Freedom League Menu, January 3rd, 1919
Printed menu for a meal organised by the Women's Freedom League on 3 January 1919 to commemorate the women candidates who stood for parliament during the General Election of 1918. This was the first general election that certain women over 30 were allowed to vote in and were able to stand as MPS. The menu included 'mock duck' 'raviolois', and lemon and jam tarts. Similarly to other dinners organised by the Women's Freedom League this appears to be a vegetarian menu. On the reverse is printed the dedication 'to the women candidates of 1918 the pioneers of women representatives in Parliament, we offer our warmest thanks and most cordial congratulations for the plucky fight they put up in the interests of women'.
