Women's Freedom League Tribute to John Stuart Mill, May 20th, 1908.

The photograph shows a crowd standing in front of the statue of Mills in Temple Gardens, with a wreath in front of it which also spells 'Votes For Women'.
John Stuart Mill, born 20 May 1806, was a supporter of women's rights. As a Liberal MP, he attempted to introduce an amendment in favour of women's suffrage to Disraeli's 1867 Reform Bill. The WFL was a militant suffrage group founded in 1907 by women who broke away from the Women's Social and Political Union as a result of policy differences with the Pankhursts.
