Postcard with photograph of a woman with her hand outstretched, surrounded by a crowd. Behind the woman is a flag. Handwritten on the back of the card is 'Speaking on Wimbledon Common, June 2, 1912?'.
On 2 June 1912 suffragette organisation the Women's Social and Political Union held a 'Woman's Sunday' event on Wimbledon Common, and estimated that a crowd of 12-20,000 attended. Speakers included Flora Drummond, a senior member of the WSPU and Rose Lamartine Yates, secretary of the dynamic Wimbledon branch of the WSPU.
