Printed Ephemera — 1912
Postcard, photographic postcard
Postcard photograph of Rose Lamartine Yates, (centre) and Georgina Brackenbury (to her right). The third woman is possibly Mrs Beytie, a leading member of the WSPU. Behind the women is the banner of the Wimbledon Branch of the WSPU with the motto 'Freedom Votes Equality WSPU Wimbledon'.
The photograph was taken at Dorset Hall, the home of Rose Lamartine Yates, Secretary of the Wimbledon branch of the Women's Social and Political Union. It is likely the occasion refers to a visit by Georgina Brackenbury to speak at a Votes for Women meeting on Wimbledon Common following her release from prison for window smashing in 1912. Rose and Georgina were particularly good friends and Georgina was a regular 'guest speaker' at meetings of the Wimbledon branch of the WSPU.
