Printed Ephemera — 1910-1911
Postcard, photographic postcard
Postcard with photograph of the Woman's Press shop. The Women's Social and Political Union opened this shop at 156 Charing Cross Road in May 1910. The rapid growth in sales of suffragette literature and merchandise necesitated this central London location for the new business. The press cart in front of the shop is driven by Miss Shepherd. Next to her sits Helen Craggs, who was in charge of the distribution in London of 'Votes for Women', the WSPU's weekly newspaper. She supplied all the WSPU pitches with the newspaper.
