Printed Ephemera — 1907-1908
Votes For Women. Women's Freedom League. Miss Dorothy Molony
Postcard with photographic portrait of Dorothy Molony. Above is printed 'Votes For Women. Women's Freedom League'. Below is 'Miss Dorothy Molony' and the organisation's addresses. Handwritten on the back is 'Holloway prisoner'. Postcards like these with portraits of suffragettes were produced as part of the women's pro-suffrage campaign and sold to raise money for the cause.
A suffragette named 'Dorothy Maloney' is mentioned in newspaper reports of May 1908 as forcing Winston Churchill to abandon a meeting in Dundee by repeatedly ringing a bell while he spoke. A woman named 'Dorothy Moloney' is included in the ‘Roll of Honour of Suffragette Prisoners 1905-1914’ , a list compiled by the Suffragette Fellowship in around 1950.
