Printed Ephemera — 1740-1766
Card, trade card
Copper-engraved trade card advertising the business of the nightman Samuel Foulger, located at Cannon Street Road, St George's, Middlesex. The card notes that Foulger who was 'nightman to his majesty's offices' also offers the services 'sugar refiners lime cisterns cleansed, rubbish carted'. The lack of building number on the address suggests this card was printed before the Act of 1766 that introduced house numbering and prohibited trade signs extending over the street.
