William Smith
Copper-engraved trade card advertising the confectionery business of William Smith, located at the Kings Arms, 2 New Bond Street. The lettering, printed within a decorative cartouche depicting baskets of fruit and leaves, describes Smith as a maker and seller of sweetmeats, jellys, creams, sherberts, iced fruits, ice and waters. The trade card also serves as an invoice and receipt. On the reverse is a handwritten order dated 15th Feb 1771 for the supply of number of goods including macaroons, white sugar candy, green limes and preserved apricots.
