Saw, boatbuilder's saw
Boat builder's saw with carved wooden handle. The blade is inscribed with the owner's name 'Jas Page boat builder 1789' together with a message to deter theft 'if offer'd to be pawn'd or sold stop the party'. Boatbuilder's hand tools were highly valuable but also in great demand as London became the nation's largest shipbuilding centre.
