The Crystal Palace of 1851
A handbill for an exhibition called 'The Crystal Palace of 1851' held at the Victoria and Albert Museum as part of the Festival of Britain, 1951. The exhibition included pictures and prints as well as some of the original exhibits from the Great Exhibition that was housed in the Palace. There were many souvenirs on sale, including postcards, commemorative albums and small portrait busts of Queen Victoria. The centenary of the Great Exhibition was also celebrated with exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery and the British Museum, as well as with a pavilion at the South Bank Exhibition.
