Banquet to Viscount Milner
The menu, plan of tables and farewell speech of Lord Milner from a Banquet held at the Hotel Cecil on May 24 1906. Dishes served as part of the twleve course meal included 'Darne de Saumon d'Ecosse', 'Caneton d'Aylesbury' and 'Savarin Fruitiere'.
This Banquet was one of a series of events which took place accross the British Empire on this date, declared 'Empire Day'. Others included a family banquet at Buckingham Palace and a gathering of thousands in Queens Park, Toronto, who together covered a statue of Quen Victoria with flowers.
