The King's Head
Thomas Palliser issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in New Palace Yard, Westminster, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2050; Obv inscription: THO. PALLISER. NEW. PALLACE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = The Grocers' arms (in field); Rev inscription: HIS.HALF.PENY.1666 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Bust of Charles II (in field).
The issuer was Thomas Palliser, appretice Grocer 1656; bound an apprentice 1666, see C. Webb ‘London Livery Company Apprenticeship Registers’ (London, 1996-, xlviii. 127 and 140).
