Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; 14th-15th century
Walking stick
Antler walking-stick handle carved in the shape of the head of a monk with tonsured hair. The beam of the antler forms the head and neck, the brow antler forms the nose and forehead, and the burr forms the tonsure. This gives the monk the appearance of having a grotesquely long nose.
