Priory of St Bartholomew
Replica green wax seal impression of the seal of the Priory of St Bartholomew. The original seal was dated to the medieval period, around the 13th or early 14th century. This impression is from the reverse of the seal, which depicts a church on a ship. Either side of the church are the Latin words 'NAVIS ECCL'E' (meaning 'church ship'). Around the edge of the seal impression is the legend 'CREDIMVS: ANTE: DEVM: PROVEHI: PER: BARTHOLOMEW' (meaning 'We believe that we are brought into the presence of God by the aid of St. Bartholomew'). The original seal was pressed into wax to authenticate official priory documents.
