The Lady Altar. The Oratory
The Lady Altar in the Lady Chapel in Brompton Oratory. The Lady Altar came from a chapel in Brescia in Italy which was demolished. The statue of the Virgin and Child in the centre of the altar is known as 'Our Lady of Victories'. Brompton Oratory's correct name is the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Christina Broom was a professional photographer who produced a series of London street views for sale as postcards. She later photographed the activities of the suffrage movement in London and is considered one of the earliest female press photographers.
