Chelsea Pensioners standing to attention outside Chelsea Hospital. The Latin inscription on the portico translates as 'For the assistance and alleviation of veterans broken by age and war, founded by Charles the Second, enlarged by James the Second, completed by William and Mary, King and Queen, in the year of our Lord 1692'.
Christina Broom was a professional photographer who produced a series of London street views for sale as postcards. She later photographed the activities of the suffrage movement in London and is considered one of the earliest female press photographers.
