St. George's Hospital
St. George’s Hospital was founded in 1733. It was based for 250 years at Lanesborough House on Hyde Park Corner. The hospital needed to expand and from the 1970s began to move to a new site in Tooting. Lanesborough House was refurbished and in 1991 reopened as the Lanesborough Hotel.
Christina Broom was a professional photographer who produced a series of London street views for sale as postcards. She later photographed the activities of the suffrage movement in London and is considered one of the earliest female press photographers.
