Battersea Park - The Lake
Groups of people on the far bank watch the birds on Battersea Park lake. The park opened in 1858. The drives and lake were designed by John Gibson, the park superintendent, who was a pupil of Joseph Paxton.
Christina Broom was a professional photographer who produced a series of London street views for sale as postcards. She later photographed the activities of the suffrage movement in London and is considered one of the earliest female press photographers.
