Earl's Court Exhibition - The Western Gardens
Entrepreneur Imre Kiralfy rebuilt the Earl's Court exhibition grounds as a small-scale version of Chicago's White City in 1893. They consisted of palatial exhibition halls in a Mogul Indian style, with gardens like this one and and an amusement park, of which the Ferris wheel is visible in the distance.
Christina Broom was a professional photographer who produced a series of London street views for sale as postcards. She later photographed the activities of the suffrage movement in London and is considered one of the earliest female press photographers.
