The Hat
Edward Builer issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at the Turnstile, Holborn, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3261A; Obv inscription: EDWARD.BVILER.TVRN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A man's hat with band and feather (in field); Rev inscription: STILE.HOLBORN.1659 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = E.I.B. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
Turnstile (later Great Turnstile), lay between High Holborn and Little Queen Street (now part of the Kingsway), in Holborn, Middlesex; the area is now part of the London Borough of Camden.
