Miniature zoetrope
Miniature tinplate toy zoetrope of 'wheel of life'. Comprising a small, hollow, tinplate drum with brown painted exterior and nine slots cut around around the side. On the inside of the drum are painted 10 images of a youth in a red jumper depicted in various stages of performing a backward somersault. The lid lifts off to reveal a spike on which the drum can be spun. The lid is marked with a German patent mark 'Miniatur lebensrad DRGM'. Purchased for one penny (1d) from a London street trader on 21st December 1906.
