William Farncombe, an oilman (a person who sells oil) issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in Bedford Street, Covent Garden, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 738; Obv inscription: WILLIAM.FARNCOMBE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = OYL / MANE / 1654 (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: IN.COVENT.GARDEN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = W.F (in field, in Roman capitals).
