Leading Suffragettes descended on Hawick Burghs in Scotland in the weeks leading up to the by-election to urge voters not to vote for the Liberal Candidate.
Nellie (Ellen) Crocker was a salaried WSPU organiser in Yorkshire and the cousin of Emmeline Pethick Lawrence.
