The Cry of the Children
Pro-suffrage propaganda postcard captioned 'The Cry of the Children'. C.Hedley Charlton's representation of children to carry the suffrage message was purposefully intended to place the campaign within an innocent and domestic context. This representation may be contrasted with the anti-suffrage view of suffragettes as having abandoned their traditional domestic roles of wives and mothers.
