To Hyde Park, June 21, 1908. Women's Social and Political Union
Leaflet printed with information about Women's Sunday due to take place in Hyde Park on 21st June 1908. Issued by the Women's Social and Political Union the leaflet summarises the programme and arrangements for the day and urges women from all over the UK to take part in the demonstration. As noted on the leaflet this, the first 'monster meeting' to be organised by the WSPU involved seven processions through London to a rally in Hyde Park where speakers, including the Suffragette leaders could be heard from 20 different platforms. Women from all over the UK were transported to the event on 30 specially chartered trains. The event was an organisational triumph for the WSPU and attracted huge crowds drawn by the spectacle of the Suffragettes in their purple, white and green regalia carrying over 700 banners through the streets of London.
