Printed Ephemera — C. 1908
Public Meeting. Memorial Hall, Farringdon Street. Women's Social and Political Union
Printed handbill announcing a series of public meetings organised by the Women's Social and Political Union to be held in support of 'Votes for Women.' These free meetings, that took place each Thursday evening at the Memorial Hall, Farringdon Street included appearances and speeches by leading Suffragettes including Christabel Pankhurst and Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence. Printed in the purple and green colours of the Women's Social and Political Union the flyer also includes Sylvia Pankhurst's logo of the female reaper sowing seed. It is probable the meetings took place in late1908 when WSPU efforts to increase public support resulted in the organisation of up to 10,000 nationwide meetings that year.
