Mrs Pankhurst on the Country in Danger. Kingsway Hall. Women's Social and Political Union
Printed handbill announcing a meeting in the Kingsway Hall on Monday 30 November 1914 to be addressed by Emmeline Pankhurst. This meeting was one of several addressed by the Suffragette leaders Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst at the outbreak of World War I to justify their decision to transform the Women's Social and Political Union into an organisation that fully supported the Government's war effort. This new policy of supporting the previously despised Liberal Government proved hugely unpopular with many Suffragettes who subsequently withdrew their support of the Pankhurst led Women's Social and Political Union.
