Irishwomen!. Monster Demonstration from Westminster Embankment to Hyde Park in support of the Votes for Women Bill
Handbill appealing for Irish women to join a 'Monster Demonstration from Westminster Embankment to Hyde Park in support of the Votes for Women Bill' on Saturday 23rd July 1910. This demonstration was organised by the Women's Social and Political Union to show mass support for the Conciliation Bill that had just passed its second reading in the House of Commons. The date of 23rd July was chosen by the WSPU as it marked the anniversary of the day in 1867 when men, demonstrating for their inclusion in the Reform Bill, pulled down railings in Hyde Park. As well as the Hyde Park demonstration of 1910 the WSPU organised similar events in Edinburgh, Bristol, Liverpool, Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.
