Why Women Ought to have the Franchise Equally with Men
Leaflet issued by the Male Electors' League for Women's Suffrage making a case for 'Why Women ought to have the Franchise equally with men'. The leaflet is printed with fourteen numbered points justifying female suffrage. On the reverse is printed a copy of a Petition signed by Alan Greenwell on behalf of the Executive Committee of the League presented to the House of Commons on 13 March, 1903, by Dr J.G. Shipman. This Petition has been annotated in ink in manuscript.
The Male Electors' League for Women's Suffrage was founded before mid-1897 by Ben Elmy, the partner of Elizabeth Wolstenholme. From 1904 the organisation was run by their son Frank.
