A copper alloy radiate coin of Emperor Carausius, ruler of the Romano-British Empire, AD 286-293. The back of the coin depicts Mars, the Roman god of war. This coin was minted in the Romano-British Empire, AD 286-293.
Obv: Draped, cuirassed(?) and radiate bust of Carausius, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CARA[VS]IVS P F AV. Rev: Mars, standing right, holding a vertical spear in his right hand and leaning on a shield with the left. Rev inscription: VIRT[V]S AVG.
