Metropolitan Police
Charge sheet issued to the suffragette Florence Haig by the Metropolitan Police. The sheet binds Florence over for the sum of £2 to appear at Westminster Court on 12/02/1908 to face a charge of insulting behaviour and resisting police at Old Palace Yard on 11/02/1908. This refers to Florence's arrest during the failed 'pantechnicon raid' on the House of Commons where 21 suffragettes concealed in a furniture van were driven up to the gates of the Palace of Westminster in an attempt to rush the lobby. At trial Florence was found guilty of the charge and sentenced to 6 weeks imprisonment.
