Printed Ephemera — 1997
Box
Philip Treacy is famous for his dramatic hats. This box contains an invitation to the milliner's Autumn/ Winter 1997 show at the Hippodrome in London. Treacy started out as a fashion student in Dublin and went on to study on the Royal College of Art's fashion design course. The fashion journalist Isabella Blow helped to launch Treacy's career by ordering one of his hats for her wedding. She remained his muse up to her death in 2007. Treacy designed hats for Chanel before opening his own millinery shop in London in 1994. His designs attracted famous clients such as Oprah Winfrey, David Beckham and Alexander McQueen.
