Fire mark
Fire marks were placed on the outside of buildings to indicate that the property was insured by a specific company. This fire mark was issued by the Liverpool Fire Office founded in 1776. The company was taken over by the Phoenix Assurance Company in 1794. The mark features the company's emblem, the liver bird, taken from the arms of Liverpool.
