Working History — C. 1815
Pistol, pocket pistol
This 'over-and-under' flintlock pocket pistol features unusual star-shaped barrels. Pocket pistols were typically carried by travellers for protection against footpads and highwaymen. Double-barrelled pistols gave the user a second shot in the event of a misfire, a risk when using a flintlock weapon in damp conditions.
