Copper-engraved trade card advertising the business of John Wigly, nightman located 'at the Black Bull opposite Poland Street in Oxford Road, London' On the reverse is a handwritten receipt dated 23rd August 1744 confirming the payment of one pound eight shillings for the carriage of seven loads of soil from the Running Footman in Drury Lane, presumably an inn or public house.
