Printed Ephemera — 1808
Card, trade card
Copper-engraved trade card advertising the business of Mary Solomon, widow of Bartholomew Solomon, soot-dealer, chimney sweep and nightman with premises located at 92 Leadenhall Street. Mary Solomon's trade card is identical to that of her late husband's and includes three vignettes depicting the activities of nightmen and sweeps. The card is also printed with a list of services offered by Mary including the extinguishing of chimneys on fire and the cleaning of smoky coppers and pipes that lead into 'necessary's'. On the reverse is a handwritten receipt referring to the payment of bushels of soot purchased from Mary by Mr Starr.
