Henry Potter, Herbalist
Printed billhead with handwritten invoice issued by Henry Potter, herbalist and dealer in leeches located at 32 Fleet Market. By 1828 leeches were widely used by London's physicians for bloodletting this proceedure being used as a cure for a wide range of infections and diseases. As well as being farmed in England and Scotland they were imported into London from France, eastern Europe and Egypt.
