Printed Ephemera — 1779-06-12
Henry Young, Goldsmith
Copper-engraved billhead with handwritten invoice issued by Henry Young goldsmith, jeweller, hardware and toyman located at the sign of the Star and Garter, near St Paul's Cathedral, Ludgate Street. The billhead includes an engraving of the tradesman's sign of the order of the star and garter and notes that Henry Young also bought and sold coins and medals, 'ancient and modern'. The handwritten invoice dated 12th June 1779 refers to payment for the service of stringing 3 garnet and silver necklaces and 'unsetting' a set of garnet jewellery. Presumably the garnets removed from the necklace and earrings etc were used to form the three necklaces.
