Game piece
Turned ebony cylinder used as a game piece, with lines at intervals on body, c. 1700. In the early modern period, exotic natural products were prized trade goods. Eastern plants provided ebony wood and fragrant spices like cloves and peppercorns, or myrrh from Arabia.
