Gelatin silver print, part of the Henry Grant photographs collection. From a group of images of Imperial College of Science and Technology Commemoration Day at the Royal Albert Hall, 22/10/1959. The image shows a close up of two individuals, wearing academic gowns and hats. In the background, there are other seated individuals wearing academic gowns. The handwritten caption on the reverse reads 'Expasion of Higher Education.' The typed caption attached on the reverse reads 'Commemoration Day Ceremony: New Fellows of Imperial College. Honoured by their election this year as Fellows of Imperial College of Science and Technology, Mr. T.G.N. Haldane and Professor Emeritus A.C. Chibnall (with glasses) at the Commemoration Day ceremony in the Royal Albert Hall last Thursday (oct. 26).'
