This theatre programme relates to a performance of a trilogy of plays by Arnold Wesker at the Royal Court Theatre, Sloane Square. The trilogy consisted of 'Chicken Soup with Barley', 'Roots' and 'I'm Talking about Jerusalem'. The three plays explore aspects of socialism played out through the lives of a Jewish family and starred Frank Finlay, Alan Howard and Joan Plowright.
Arnold Wesker was born in 1932 into a Jewish family living in the East End. He became a popular dramatist, journalist and writer.
