Mitten
Pair of mittens in fine black silk lace. Made of two pieces, hand and thumb pieces. Length to first knuckles only. Vertical flower pattern and flower motif on thumb; hand made reseaux and motifs which have been made separately and applied. Fine black silk ribbon for drawstring with picot edge (?Honiton) at wrist. Condition: sound. Outer edge and set in thumb piece seams are both whipped from the underside; casing for ribbon drawstrings looks like insertion lace; tuck has been taken in each mitten in a dart/wedge shape with the wide end at the hand opening edge on the palm side, appears to be sewn with contemporary silk thread.
